Following the trend and rate at which blogs are being hacked these days, you’ll want to make sure your blog is high on security to prevent this ordeal from befalling you. A lot of bloggers have loosed thousands of dollars this fall owing to their blogs being hacked. You know what you’ll be losing from your blog if it gets hacked. In case you don’t know what you may lose whenever your blog is hacked, let me cite two important things you may lose by your blog being hacked.
The first important thing you may lose once your blog is hacked is your readers, followed by your search engine rankings. I’ll share some witty ways I’ve been making sure my lunarpages discounts and icontact coupons blog doesn’t get hacked.
Be discreet with Your Passwords and Details surrounding it
Many people spend immeasurable efforts making sure their password is strong enough to avoid others having the privilege of guessing it, but they are making some mistakes. And where they are making mistake is in the aspect of keeping their password secret. It’s one step towards attaining high security to use a strong password for your blog and another strong step to see that it is not compromised by exposing it to outsiders.
Always make sure your password is protected from prying eyes by making sure nobody is beside you when you are entering your password. When there are others beside you when typing in your passwords, you can as well cover your keyboard to make sure others are not seeing what you are typing.
Use Strong Passwords
Choosing a password for your blog is one the many things that you’d do with diligence. Petty hackers can get your blog down by just launching brute force to your blog’s log in box. Brute force is the act of trying many possible passwords on a blog till the correct password is reached.
Using simple and generic form of passwords can only jeopardize the safety of your blog. You can make sure your password is stronger by using a combination of figures and letters. This will make it difficult for someone who does not know your password to guess it.
Check Your System from Viruses
Viruses can cause a lot of terrible problems for your blog. Not alone will viruses leak your blog’s username and password to hackers, viruses can also prevent you from knowing that your blog’s security has been compromised.
You must have an antivirus software installed on your computer if you want to get rid of viruses on your computer, and make sure you are always keeping it up to date. An outdated antivirus cannot be strong enough to prevent viruses from getting into your computer.
Use Login Lockdown
Another way to make sure your blog is securely protected against any form of brute force attack is by installing a WordPress plugin called “login lockdown” on your blog. Login lockdown prevents someone from entering the wrong password for more than three times at a stretch.
There are other plugins that perform the same task as login lockdown, which you can install on your WordPress blog as well, but login lockdown is the most known of them.
